Welcome to the Ukrainian Philatelist Webring Home Page. This webring is devoted to
those that have a web site pertaining to Ukrainian postage stamp collecting, Ukrainian
postal history, and Ukrainian postal stationary. To qualify for inclusion in the Ukrainian
Philatelist Webring all you have to do is meet the requirements listed below. What is a
webring? To learn more about what a webring is click on the link to the Webring.org's detailed
explanation.
Requirements
Requirements to be included in the Webring:
NO adult content, pornography, kiddie porn, no racist sites or sites that advocate,
encourage or condome such behavior, etc. (This should go without saying....but I want no
misunderstandings)
The webring code MUST be placed on the page that is being submitted and the page
being submitted MUST meet all of the other requirements. NOTE: I
will utilize the Webring.com auto-checker for the proper placement of the webring HTML
code; if after you are added to the webring, you decide to move the code or change
your site's info to another page---YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RING.
Web site should have a Ukrainian philatelic theme. If you don't know what philately is,
then you are probably not going to qualify for inclusion.
More than one link to other Ukrainian web sites and more than a Ukrainian Link Page.
The nav bar code must be added to the submitted page within 7 days from the
date of submitted. In a nutshell, after you have submitted your web site for
consideration to be added to the webring, you will have 7 days to add the Nav Bar Code to
your submitted page. This is necessary so that sites in the queue move more quickly into
the ring. If you are not moved into the ring within 7 days, your site will be
automatically removed from the queue and you will have to resubmit it. Also, the code must
be placed on the page you submitted so that people do not have to go searching for it.
This becomes frustrating when the web site utilizes special Cyrillic fonts and not
everyone is able to or capable of setting these fonts up or able to read them.
The Nav Bar Code must be working properly. I would have thought that this was not
necessary to state, but if your code isn't owrking properly the webring won't work. Soem
common errors and their resolutions can be found here.
When you've completed all the necessary steps, you must then e-mail the RingManager requesting your site to be added to the
ring. I will then access your site and make sure that the webring is working properly. If
I notice any problems, I will notify you immediately by e-mail (to the e-mail address you
gave when you submitted your site) and you should correct the problem(s) as quickly as
possible. Because, the clock is running toward the 7 day limit.
Your page must not be written specifically for any one type of browser. I would
have thought that this requirement would not be necessary, but many sites have been
submitted which have to be viewed with a specific browser. Web visitors cannot be forced
to have to use a specific browser and I will not allow gaps within the webring.
When I check your site I will only be checking the content to make sure that it meets
the requirements of the webring. And I will only do this when I am notified by either you
(as the submitter) or the Auto-checker notifies me that it found a valid code on your
submitted site.
Joining the community:
You have 2 options to choose from to join this community.
You can join BOTH, but you have to make sure that both code are present on your
submitted page.
Why 2 separate codes?
The reason for this that some people may already have a Webring.com ID and can just
sign up without having to place additional code on their site. Also, Webring.com
includes an option to display only 1 nav bar on the site. This does not work well
for those that wish to display ALL of the webring communities that they belong to.
Finally, the Webring.com code is JavaScript based; if your web page provider does not
support JavaScript (i.e. MSN member pages, etc), you cannot utilize this code. You
will need to join using the RingSurf code.
RingSurf.com is for those that feel comfortable working with HTML becuase it is only
HTML based. This allows you to add to any existing webring codes you already have on
your web page and to display all of the webrings you belong to. HTML based is easier
to use and can cause less problems.
Whichever you choose, you must have THAT nav bar code displayed on your submitted
web site before you will be moved into the webring community. Basically, if you join
through Webring.com then you must have the code received from Webring.com on your site; if
through RingSurf, then the code received through RingSurf must be on your site.
Having one does not automatically include you in the other.
